Four local non-profit groups, all focused on sports or arts here in Oakville, will be sharing a newly announced capital grant valued at more than $500,000.

The Ontario government is providing a total of $516,100 in funding to four non-profit organizations in Oakville through the Ontario Trillium Foundation's (OTF) capital grant stream.

The funding will go towards enhancing infrastructure and improving community programming and spaces for four local groups, either focused on local sports or the arts.

Sharing the OTF grant will be:

  • The Oakville Gymnastics Club
  • Oakville Crusaders Rugby Club
  • Oakville Curling Club
  • Bandology

"Our government believes organizations like Bandology, Crusaders Rugby Club, Oakville Gymnastics Club, and The Oakville Curling Club enrich the lives of people in Oakville and play an important role in building a strong and prosperous economy in Ontario," said Oakville MPP Stephen Crawford.

According to a news release from the Ontario government, capital grants from the OTF are part of more than $28 million supporting 291 local programs and services.

"Oakville Gymnastics Club is honoured to receive such crucial support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation," said Don Holmes, Executive Director of the Oakville Gymnastics Club.

"With these funds we plan to rejuvenate many of our kid-friendly sponge pits and landing zones. This grant will give our Oakville gymnasts the confidence to leap to new heights knowing that if they falter they'll have a safe place to land," he continued.
