IN PHOTOS: Oakville Child Care Centre celebrates anniversary with Teddy Bear Picnic

The Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC) hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic Wednesday afternoon that saw around 85 families!

The Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC) hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, to celebrate the organization's 44th anniversary and saw a terrific turnout. (The fun even finished just before the rain came out!)

The goal of the organization was to provide a free event for the community to come out and enjoy with family. Being an organization focused on bringing families together, OPCC wanted to create a fun and engaging environment for both parents and children.

"OPCC was started in 1980 in the basement of a church by two local mothers in search of community, and while OPCC has grown substantially over the years, the focus of the organization remains to be on creating opportunities for families to develop relationships and foster community on a larger scale," said OPCC Community Relationship Specialist Kim Keyser.

"If there is something that we have learned over the past several years, it is that the power of working together and helping each other is what makes our community stronger."

Wednesday's event saw around 85 families enjoying picnics, an ice cream truck, conversations and photos with Oakville Fire, and, of course, teddy bears.

The event was made possible with the help of dedicated volunteers, the town of Oakville, and all the local supporters who took the time to come out.
