GIVEOakville, the annual holiday giving campaign, is back for another year with 64 incredible local charities that need the community’s support to reach their goal.

GIVEOakville is the Oakville Community Foundation’s annual online crowdfunding campaign that raises money and awareness for local charities and the work they do to make Oakville a great place to live, work and visit. The campaign runs for three weeks from November 15 to December 9.

The campaign has become Oakville’s most successful holiday-giving campaign thanks to the Oakville community’s generous spirit and continued support.

Charities included in the campaign encompass all aspects of the charitable sector including: Arts, Culture & Heritage; Children, Youth & Family Services; Community; Education; Employment & Economic Growth; Environment & Climate; Food Security; Health & Wellbeing; Housing & Shelter; and Mental Health & Addictions.

This year, a new category has been added to focus on Community Priorities, such as Intimate Partner Violence, Feed Oakville and other Funds connected to the Oakville Community Foundation.

Together, the 64 charities are seeking a combined $1.4 million. At the end of the campaign, The Foundation will top-up donations with nearly $200,000 to help charities that did not reach their goal, of which 20% will go to charities with a racialized or gender-equity focus.

“GIVEOakville works because it’s an opportunity for community members to come together and show their support for the local charities that work so hard to make sure our community thrives,” said Wendy Rinella, CEO of the Oakville Community Foundation. “The Foundation covers all transaction fees to make sure each dollar raised makes a difference right here in Oakville and goes directly to the charity.”

For the first time, The Foundation is also hosting an in-person GIVEOakville Charity Showcase on November 17 at Appleby College, which will give community members the opportunity to meet representatives from more than 50 charities and learn about their organization’s work.

Registration is free with drop-in hours between 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and includes free parking, light refreshments and entertainment from members of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra.

To support the work of the GIVEOakville Campaign, The Foundation created the GIVEOakville Leadership Council to ensure the campaign continues to grow in its reach of as many members of our community as possible. These members have been instrumental in engaging community and neighbourhood groups across Town. Members include:

  • Andy Aicklen (Chair)
  • Andrew Tyrrell
  • Geraldine Esemezie
  • Josh Engelbrecht
  • Esha Gupta
  • Saud Juman
  • Jen Zhou

Since 2019, with the public’s support, GIVEOakville has raised $3 million to support local charitable work in the community.

While the digital GIVEOakville Charity Giving Guide is always available at your fingertips, at www.giveoakville.com, a paper copy can also be found in the current edition of Best Side Magazine.
