On Saturday, May 18, 2024, local politicians and members of the Oakville Cricket Club gathered at the site of the new field to announce its official opening.
"A fantastic addition to our community, promoting sports and bringing people together," said Ward 7 Councillor Scott Xie via X (formerly Twitter).
The new cricket field is larger than two full-sized turf fields at the complex and features what appears to be a large scoreboard. It is located beside the four existing turf fields and backs onto Neyagawa Boulevard.
Announced in 2022, this cricket field is one of four projects that total a $2.95 million investment in community infrastructure. The cricket field was funded through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.
