Oakville Council and Board meetings will transition back to in-person sessions at the Council Chamber starting April 8, 2024.

Virtual sessions had been in place since February 26, 2024, to allow for updates to safety and security plans and protocols, including training the appropriate staff.

Mayor Burton had also originally said that the move to virtual only sessions was decided base on discussions with Halton Police.

Town staff have since decided to resume in-person meetings, according to Town Clerk Vicki Tytaneck.

Under the Procedure By-law, electronic meetings are permitted when deemed necessary by the Mayor and CAO. In-person attendance may be restricted, but meetings will remain accessible to the public electronically.

More to come on this developing story.
