A special weather statement issued earlier for our area has now officially been replaced by a rainfall warning.
Environment Canada says rain, at times heavy, is expected to fall with rates of up to 40 mm an hour possible.
"Showers and thunderstorms will affect portions of the area this afternoon and early evening," the warning said.
"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible."

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.
Hazards: Rainfall totals of 50 mm, with locally higher possible. Rainfall rates of up to 40 mm in an hour.
Timing: Late this afternoon and evening, and tapering off later tonight.
Discussion: Showers and thunderstorms will affect portions of the area this afternoon and early evening. Locally higher amounts are possible in areas that receive several thunderstorms.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to taper to isolated showers later this evening.
