All registered recreational and cultural programs will be cancelled today due to the ongoing severe snow storm.
Town community centres, fitness centres and indoor skating arenas will remain open for rentals and drop-in programs.
"Our top priority is the safety of residents, patrons and employees," according to Oakville town staff, "and we thank you for your patience and understanding at this time."
Some rentals and drop-in programs may be impacted by the storm or outright cancelled. If so, the organizer will communicate those impacted directly.
Those who are enroled in registered programming and had their classes cancelled today, will be given an account credit for the missed class.
Meanwhile, the town says crews are plowing primary and secondary roads while all of Oakville is experiencing continuous snowfall.
"For roads that are not cleared yet, please allow crews to make it to your area before entering a request. After the snow stops, primary/secondary roads are cleared within 12 hours and residential roads may take up to 24 hours."
Town staff also advise that "it's important to try and remove your cars from the roads during snow removal activities to allow our plows to clear roads efficiently. Vehicles parking on the street (with permit or without permit) may be ticketed if obstructing snow clearing operations."
