A fire that broke out yesterday on the rooftop of an Oakville restaurant has shut the location down temporarily. The Oakville Fire Department as well as the restaurant owners are unsure exactly how this fire was started.

Oakville Fire Department responded to a roof fire at the Spoon & Fork Restaurant located at 2345 Trafalgar Road yesterday afternoon at around 3:15 p.m.

The fire broke out while roofing contractors were replacing roofing material.

Utilizing a deck gun, crews were able to quickly contain the spreading fire.

The fire department opted not to cut off power during extinguishing efforts to prevent six nearby businesses from losing power.

No injuries were reported, and by approximately 4:17 p.m., firefighters confirmed the fire was completely extinguished.

Deputy Fire Chief Drew Boys confirmed that contractors replaced the small section on the roof where the fire originated.

However, the restaurant owners are uncertain regarding their reopening timeline, as they remain unaware of the fire's cause.

While investigators will collaborate with the owners to determine the cause, reopening by the weekend appears unlikely according to the restaurant owner.
