Seven top shows in Oakville to see for the holidays

With the holiday season underway, Visit Oakville has listed seven local shows that must be seen by the end of 2024

We have now begun the holiday season in Oakville, which is always the perfect time to venture out to the theatre and enjoy a performance.

The town has several incredible shows that will be on display over the next six weeks that will look to get residents into the holiday spirit ranging from holiday performances to comedies. All shows listed will take place at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

Visit Oakville has suggested seven shows that you must see before the end of 2024:

1. Elvis: A Christmas Special – November 27, 7:00 p.m. 

This concert honours the legacy of "The King" and brings his famous holiday music back to life.

The show will feature several classic Christmas songs along with some Elvis Presley flair.

It will be a unique and special way to get back into the holiday spirit nearly a month before Christmas begins

2. The Nutcracker – November 29-December 1, various times

One of the classic Christmas performances, The Nutcracker has returned to Oakville for another year of Holiday cheer.

Peter Tchaikovsky's classic ballet will be brought back to life for a three day period and is sure to be an incredible experience for all.

The ballet will be performed by the Oakville School of Classical Ballet making the show a local production and a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

3. Holly Cole’s A Swinging Christmas – December 7, 8:00 p.m.

Are you a lover of Jazz, then we have the perfect concert for you.

Holly is a seasoned Canadian jazz musician who is known for her incredibly unique and soulful voice.

The Canadian singer brings her own twists to classic tunes, creating a night of jazz that will be perfect for a holiday night out.

4. The Fitzgerald’s Christmas – December 12, 8:00 p.m.

If you are looking for a family friendly show around the holiday's, look no further than The Fitzgerald's Christmas performance.

The family melds together a combination of fiddling, step-dancing, and brings you back into the Christmas spirit.

It is a performance that should have you toe tapping and clapping along with the music.

5. Oakville Symphony Family Holiday Concert – December 15, 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Oakville Symphony's holiday is an excited and captivating event for all ages.

With a set that features countless festive songs, the group will have audience members of all ages feeling the spirit of the holidays

The performance is a perfect concert for families wanting to have a fun festive night out.

6. Freezing: A Holiday Pantomime – (Multiple dates/Times from December 20-28)

If you enjoy audience participation, this show is perfect for you.

This pantomime performance is a unique theatre experience for all in attendance.

The entire family will love this performance and have plenty of gut busting laughs.

7. O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy – December 29, 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

This comedy show brings laughter back to the holiday season.

The British show blends together both physical comedy and witty banter that will have the audience howling with laughter.

Resulting in a memorable time at the theatre.

If these shows do not appeal to you, downtown Oakville will be hosting several other musical festive events lined up.

Events such as the Rock’n Around: The Silent Holiday Disco.

This silent disco brings an unusual spin on holiday songs, allowing people to dance to their own beat with headphones on, while overlooking the twinkling lights of trees.

These events are going to make this holiday season special in Oakville and will be fun for people of all ages!
