Local Lens Contest

The HBHAS has finalized its 2025 Local Lens Contest, which ends on Friday, May 31.

Through the essay and video contests THBHAS has seen inspiring submissions that highlight the unique perspectives and creativity of our community and young people.  HBHAS’ Local Lens project is a learning opportunity for young people and audiences. Through video, spoken word and written essays they present their ideas around how to eradicate racism, hate and bullying within Halton.

Young people are invited to enter the essay contest. First, second, and third place winners in essays and videos will earn honorariums, community and cultural recognition, and media promotion. Some of the winners speak at HBHAS events which feature local politicians and dignitaries. Winners will be finalized in late June.

The top three winners in each category will be interviewed by media, while selected narratives and videos will be catalogued for posterity in the future.
