United Way Halton & Hamilton is thrilled to announce the launch of its 2024-2025 fundraising campaign with an ambitious goal of raising $12.5 million for the community.
The campaign was officially kicked off on September 21st at the Annual UPS Plane Pull for United Way, a family-friendly event that brought together teams of 15 participants, who had one opportunity to pull a 200,000-pound plane fifty feet along the tarmac at the Hamilton International Airport in the shortest amount of time. This year’s event raised an impressive $217,000+ providing an electrifying start to the campaign.
Building on the incredible momentum from last year's historic achievement of raising $12.5 million, United Way Halton & Hamilton aims to match that success this year, to help maintain sustainable growth for impact in the community. Last year, United Way supported over 220,568 individuals and families through 117 different programs across Burlington, Halton Hills, Hamilton, Milton, and Oakville. These programs provided essential services, ranging from food security and mental health support to youth mentorship and shelter services.
Brad Park, President & CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton, expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to this year’s campaign:
"I've never felt more energized to support our community. Coming off the success of last year's campaign, I’m ready to turn all of that compassion into ACTION and help build a stronger network of support for our community. The theme for this year, United in ACTION, is all about standing together and making a tangible difference in the lives of people in need. United Way drives action in so many ways. Beyond providing critical funding to our agency partners, we’re deeply involved in capacity-building initiatives, participating in roundtables for important community discussions, conducting research, and collaborating with all levels of government."
Local Love Community Match: Amplifying Your Impact
In a special announcement, United Way Halton & Hamilton is excited to introduce the return of the Local Love Community Match. Thanks to this generous initiative, any gift to United Way will have an even greater impact. For every $4 contribution, an additional $1 will be added to the donation by a group of generous community members and organizations. This match offers donors a unique opportunity to maximize their contributions and drive even greater change in our community.
"We are incredibly grateful to our Founders Circle of philanthropic leaders who helped us establish the Community Match last year," said Brad Park. "Their continued generosity, along with the support of new members, enables us to offer the Local Love Community Match again this year. This initiative will play a crucial role in helping us reach our ambitious $12.5 million goal, especially during these challenging economic times."
Claude DeMone, the 2024-2025 Campaign Chair, echoed this optimism, expressing his confidence in the community’s ability to rally together:
