Lewis was most recently Canada's Next Gen coach, and is currently the head coach of French professional Volleyball team Alterna State Poitevin.
Originally from Oakville, Lewis attended and graduated from the University of Manitoba and played professional volleyball in Europe.
He was also a libero for Canada's National Team until 2016. A libero is a position on a volleyball team who is known as a defensive specialist and can't serve or rotate to the teams front line.
Lewis became an assistant coach for Canada’s Men’s National Team, which included the Tokyo Olympics, and later became Next Gen head coach.
In 2023, Lewis helped Canada capture a gold medal at the NORCECA Pan Am Cup, and assisted the men's National Excellence Program (NEP), along with other achievements.
"I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to collaborate with the athletes and staff involved with Team Canada,” said Lewis in a statement.
"The international men’s game requires us to continue to grow and pursue execution at its highest level. I look forward to working with everyone towards this common goal."
He now takes over Canada's senior men's team after former coach Tuomas Sammelvuo departed from the program after helping Canada reach the 2024 Paris Olympics and appear in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Volleyball Nations League in 2024.
Canada begins their season this summer in Quebec as they compete in the Volleyball Nations League.
