The Canadian Women's Squash Open took place in Toronto from Sunday, Oct. 27, to Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, featuring some of the world's top squash players. Among them was Hollile Naughton, a five-time Canadian Squash Champion.
This year’s tournament marked a different experience for Naughton (30), however, as she was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Melissa Alves (31) from France on Oct. 29.
Naughton, who hails from Oakville, succumbed to her defeat after three lengthy rounds with Alves (11-7, 11-6, 17-15).
Ranked No. 26 in the world, Naughton previously beat other Canadian squash player Nicole Bunyan and advanced to the quarterfinals the day before, after winning three of the four rounds (11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7).
The Oakville Trafalgar graduate's career spans more than a decade, with a silver and bronze medal from the Pan American Games and a silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham under her belt, in addition to her five national titles as the Canadian Squash Champion.

She is projected to compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, which got introduced as an Olympic sport for the first time earlier this year.
"It's 4 years away and I'll be doing everything in my power to make it there," said Naughton said of the new addition in May 2024. "I think for myself it would be an amazing way to close out my career."
