Road closures and detours to be in place for Sept. 29 Oakville half marathon

On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, several road and lane closures will be in effect for the Oakville Half Marathon which will begin at Shell Park.

The 16th Annual Oakville Half Marathon is on October 2nd | After a 2 year absence, the Oakville Half Marathon will be back in Bronte.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, several road and lane closures will be in effect for the Oakville Half Marathon which will begin at Shell Park.

Roads impacted include Lakeshore Road East, Bronte Road, and Old Lakeshore Road, with closures starting as early as 6:30 a.m.

Emergency lanes will be maintained along parts of the route, while detours will direct traffic through Third Line, Rebecca Street, and Great Lakes Boulevard.

The following road and lane closures will be in effect during the Oakville Half Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024:

Road closures

  •  Lakeshore Road East from Great Lakes Boulevard to Bronte Road, 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  •  Bronte Road from Lakeshore Road East to Ontario Street, 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  •  Lakeshore Road East from Third Line to Dorval Drive, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  •  Old Lakeshore Road, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Lane closures

  •  Ontario Street (eastbound) from Bronte Road to East Street, 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  •  East Street (northbound) from Marine Drive to Ontario Street, 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  •  Marine Drive (eastbound) from East Street to Third Line, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Local access through this area will not be maintained within the closure limits.  

Emergency lanes

Emergency lanes will be maintained:

  • from Great Lakes to Mississaga Street (eastbound lane)
  • from Mississaga Street to Bronte Road (westbound lane)
  • from Third Line to Dorval Drive (westbound lane)

Detour route

The following roadways will be designated as the primary detour route during the closure period:  

  • Third Line
  • Rebecca Street
  • Great Lakes Boulevard
