Thanks to new funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), ActiveChefs, a federal not-for-profit organization that promotes a healthy active lifestyle for young people, will be able to expand operations throughout Halton.

Yesterday afternoon, I joined Labour Minister Kevin Flynn and Jaz Singh, a volunteer with OTF, to announce details of the funding and offer their congratulations.

“Congratulations to ActiveChefs on receiving continued support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This grant will allow ActiveChefs to continue to grow and be available to more students from across Oakville and all across Halton. It’s impressive to see such a wonderful organization do so much to promote the importanceof healthy active living.” — Kevin Flynn, M.P.P. Oakville

The organization was awarded a 5-year grant of $363,700 – funding that will be used to hire two part-time coordinators and help expand the program to more sites in Halton and Peel.

With this money, ActiveChefs will be able to engage over 2,000 children and their families in experiential learning related to healthy nutrition, food preparation, and active living.

A leading grantmaker in Canada, the Ontario Trillium Foundation strengthens the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives. An agency of the Government of Ontario, OTF

builds healthy and vibrant communities.
