Gordon Brennan is making his second attempt to enter the council chamber of Oakville, as he runs in the by-election for the Ward 6 town council seat on July 13, 2015. He last ran in the 2014 municipal election for the position of Mayor.

Brennan is a no nonsense candidate who says what he believes is correct. He isn’t happy with the current direction of town council as it relates to finances. He feels the budget is fat, and the debt the town is financing is becoming dangerously high. He wants to bring down property taxes if possible, and ensure that property tax dollars are spent with the intent on providing the best value to the residents of Oakville.

Mr. Brennan is also extremely concerned about the partisanship that has evolved on council, to the point of openly criticizing Mayor Burton for his on going support of the Liberal Party, stating on-line, “It is a very well known fact that Rob Burton is a staunch, loyal Liberal Party Member and he uses his Official Office and Title to promote the Liberals at any given moment.”

He is not the only candidate who has made it extremely clear that they have no political party affiliation, several candidates at the Oakville Chamber of Commerce All Candidates Meeting on July 7, 2015 made the same assertion.

Brennan is a former real estate agent and was born and raised in North York. He began working in Oakville in 1993 and moved here a year later after becoming fond of the community. Now he feels it’s his time to give back. “I want to serve the people I’ve come to know and appreciate over the past 20 years that I’ve lived here.”

“I’m a real person 100 per cent of the time,” said Brennan. “I want to bring more humanity into governance.”
