Rainfall Warning in Effect for Oakville: For the evening of Tuesday, February 2, 2016

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 1:03 PM Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for Oakville, Ontario. The rain is expected to start falling at 8:00 PM tonight and continuously rain until 5:00 AM Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016.

OakvilleNews is not sure if this is the first rainfall warning that has been issued for Oakville, Ontario in the middle of winter, but to our knowledge, it is the first within recent memory. So grab your umbrella, raincoat and rubber boots. If you are driving, please do so with extreme caution. Low lying areas such as the underpass on Trafalgar Road between Cross and Cornwall Roads, could become flooded.

Also please note that local streams and creeks will be very treacherous, so remind your children to keep a healthy distance.

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Rain is forecast to spread into the regions this evening. The rainfall will be heavy at times, mainly through the overnight hours, and may be accompanied by a thunderstorm or two.

Total rainfall amounts up to 30 mm are likely by the time the rain tapers off on Wednesday morning.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
