Bronte Village comes alive again this year for 2018 Canada Day. Two events take place in Bronte each offering slightly different options and times.

Bronte Legion on Jones Street south of Lakeshore will kick things off at 11:00 AM, and the Town of Oakville's Canada Day Celebration start at 6:00 PM. Each provides easy access to the amazing fireworks display just off Bronte Harbour. You'll want to find a spot early.

There will be fun activities for all ages from a vintage ice cream truck, gastro-food trucks, live bands to activities for the little ones. Obviously the main attraction will be the fireworks display starting about  10:00 PM (weather dependent). The Legion 2018 Canada Day celebration has a beer and wine garden.

As usual parking is always extremely limited in Bronte Village for Canada Day. At 5:00 PM all roads south of Lakeshore Road West from Bronte Road to Nelson Street. Road closures extend at 8:00 PM to include most roads in Bronte below Rebecca and over to Third Line. Waters Edge Drive which is just west of Third Line and south of Lakeshore will also be closed.

 Travel Options:

  1. Come really early to stake out a parking spot
  2. Ride your bike - there will be bike corrals
  3. Walk, run, stroll, roller blade, skateboard etc
  4. Park at the Bronte GO station and take Oakville Transit

Oakville Transit schedule and shuttles

The Route 3 Bus from Bronte GO starts at 8:15 AM and leaves every 30 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to arrive in Bronte Village (Bronte Road and Lakeshore Road West).

The Shuttle Service from Bronte GO Station starts at 5:30 PM and the last shuttle leaving the GO Station will be at 9:30 PM. The buses will leave about every 10 minutes. The shuttle will stop at regular stops travelling to and from Bronte Village. You'll pay regular fares from the GO Station, but it will be free coming back. The shuttle service will be running from Bronte Village to the Bronte GO Station if you've forgotten something or need to head home earlier.

The 2018 Canada Day shuttle will keep running until the park clears and the bus drivers have been given the all clear.

Recommendations for 2018 Canada Day  fun and safe:

  1. Separated from your family or friends, pick a common place and time where everyone can meet - hearing a cell phone will not work if it is noisy.
  2. Separated from your younger children, explain to them about who they can go to for help - such as a police officer, or fireman.
  3. Bring warm clothes - it can get cool by the lake after dark
  4. There are a number of emergency service locations stationed around the park - take note of them
  5. If you are riding a bike, make sure you bring along a bike lock, and neon marking for clothing for night at riding.
  6. Oakville Transit is accessible
  7. Accessibility parking on site is very limited, first come first served
