Simple, comfortable and classic, a white t-shirt is as easy as making toast. Pick it out, pop it on. Who knew that such an easy piece in your wardrobe when worn as an undershirt could save your dress shirts?

Below are three ways a simple white t-shirt can save your dress shirts.

1. Keep your body oils from embedding in the armpits

Have you ever given the ole' sniff test in the morning, thought the dress shirt was fine, then the second you start to sweat your shirt started to stink? Those sneaky heat activated body oils are playing tricks on you. You spend the rest of the day with your pits clamped shut, hoping no one noticed the smelly fumes coming out of your armpits! Easy fix, wearing a white t-shirt under your shirt allows the t-shirt to absorb those oils, keeping your dress shirts from smelling funky.

2. Go longer between washes

Not everyone washes their shirts after each wear. It's not a bad idea  to go a few wears in between washes, if you are a neat eater and a careful coffee sipper. Dry-cleaning as well as laundering your shirts causes the fabrics to loose their sharpness, colour and in some cases their shape, which shortens the life of your poor unsuspecting shirt. Wearing a t-shirt under your shirts keeps your sweat off the shirts so you can go a little longer between washes.

3. Make your whites look white-er

Nothing looks better than a crisp white dress shirt. Nothing looks worse than seeing your body hair or nips peak out from beneath! A fitted white t-shirt helps make the white of your dress shirt look more saturated, helping you look like the sharpest knife in the drawer.

White t-shirts are easy to find. Every department store carries multi-packs, and Winners has name brand ones for cheap. Look for t-shirts that are fitted, and have some stretch. V-necks are the best options because as great as these little daddies are, you shouldn't be able to see the t-shirt poking out.

By adding a white t-shirt under your dress shirts, you will save your fabric, be abel to go longer between washes, and make your shirts look more crisp!
