Oakville Chamber Orchestra: Concerto Competition Finalists

Nearly one year ago the Oakville Chamber Orchestra’s Chelster Hall Garden Party made news as the Oakville social event of the summer. The goal of the party was to raise funds for the OCO’s youth concerto competition and since then the support received has been put to good work in the community. The concerto competition was kicked off in the Fall of 2012, and over the course of the Winter and Spring, 26 young musicians applied for the opportunity to perform their solo pieces with the accompaniment of the OCO in a concert.

The Oakville Chamber Orchestra named the finalists for their first annual Concerto Competition, sponsored by Manulife Securities:

Participating musicians are: Emily Caloncagong from Windsor; Christopher Yeung from Richmond Hill, Emma Meinrenken from Toronto, Wilson Wu from Markham; Tony Yang from North York; Tiffany Tse from Richmond Hill; and Oakville natives Leslie Ashworth, Laura Andrew, and Ji Soo Choi.

First round applicants submitted You Tube videos, which were judged by a select panel, who then decided on the finalists in the Junior and Senior categories. The winners of the Junior, Senior and “Best Entrant from Oakville” will be decided and announced at the end of the competition on June 15 at the Church of the Incarnation, 1240 Old Abbey Lane Rd. This event is free and open to the public.

The OCO takes pride in promoting and celebrating the incredible talent of local musicians and artists. See these musicians perform while you still have the chance! This is a non ticketed event. More details can be found at www.oakvillechamber.org or by phoning 905-483-6787 (OPUS)
