The Oakville Blades made easy work of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, riding the three-goal performance from Chris Brill-Morgan to take the 8-2 win on Friday, November 4, 2016.

The Blades were faced with a barrage of shots in the opening period, facing seven in the first period alone. Thus, it was a sweet feeling when the team managed to find the scoreboard first. At 6:46 into the game, Bryce Misley stole the puck while shorthanded and fired a shot on net, beating goaltender Alex Camarre from the slot to take the 1-0 lead early in the game.

The Blades would end up taking a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. First, Chris Brill-Morgan made it 2-0 with 2:42 left after a cycle on the Blades power-play resulted in the power forward slapping it past Camarre and in.

Then, less than a minute later, Jack Ricketts converted on a chance by Jackson Doherty and gave Oakville a trio of goals, a lead that looked rather comfortable heading into the first break of the game.

It took just one shot in the first period for Oakville to score again. This time, Brill-Morgan would do it again, sniping in close to give Oakville the 4-0. It was a tough start for Buffalo goaltender Tucker Weppner, who replaced Camarre between the pipes for the start of the second.

The Blades would continue their goal barrage in the second. At 10:20, Jackson Doherty got one after sniping it in close, extending the lead to five goals. Buffalo scored about 20 seconds later, but Brill-Morgan was able to grab the hat-trick with a great tap in near the post, giving Oakville the 6-1 lead.

Then the Ryan Foss show began. At 11:43, the Blades superstar broke past two defenders and made an incredible deke on Camarre, who was back in net for Buffalo, to make it 7-1. Five minutes after that, he scored once again with a shot from the slot, giving Oakville the seven-goal advantage heading into the final period.  Buffalo would score one in the final minute with the two-man advantage, but it wouldn’t matter as Oakville skated away with the 8-2 victory on Friday.

The Blades will close out their back-to-back home stand with a match against the Milton Icehawks on Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, hope to see you there!
