The Halton Regional Police Service has made an arrest and laid multiple charges in response to a violent home invasion in Oakville.
On Jan. 10, members of the HRPS responded to a home invasion in the area of Coronation Drive and John Laird Circle in Oakville where three masked suspects entered the home, pointed firearms at the residents, and demanded valuables before stealing a Mercedes SUV.
HRPS officers quickly located and recovered the victim’s stolen SUV, however the suspects and suspect vehicle fled the area and could not be located by police.
Immediately following the home invasion members of the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau took carriage of the investigation. Detectives were able to utilize a variety of investigative techniques which led to the identification of a suspect involved in the robbery.
As a result of the investigation, on March 6, Numan Khan, 27, of Etobicoke, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- breaking and entering
- disguise with intent
- robbery with a firearm
- forcible confinement
- theft of a motor vehicle
- possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000
- possession of property obtained by crime – under $5,000
- possession of automobile master key
- possess electronic device suitable for committing theft of motor vehicle
Khan has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
Further suspects are being sought and the investigation is continuing.
