Police are investigating after two Oakville homes were targeted by recent thefts involving copper piping.

In the first incident, an unoccupied home on Maplehurst Avenue was broken into at an unknown date and time. According to Halton Police Constable Ryan Anderson, the suspect gained entry through an unlocked door and stole several feet of copper piping from the basement.

In a separate incident on June 17, 2024, near Stoneybrook Trail, a caller reported a theft after stepping inside their house while cutting copper pipes in their garage. Police say the complainant had left the garage door open for about 45 minutes. When they returned, approximately ten to fifteen small pieces of copper had been stolen from the garage.

No arrests have been made, and no suspect information is available at this time.

When asked about the likelihood of these incidents being linked, Constable Anderson said police are "certainly not ruling that out."
