Halton Police is investigating two early-morning break-ins in Oakville over the weekend that appear to target high-end vehicles.

The first incident occurred around 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, when suspects attempted to break into a home on Lakeshore Road. Police say the break-in was unsuccessful, but they believe the suspects were attempting to steal keys to the resident’s vehicles.

Shortly after, a second break-in was reported in the area of Third Line and Rebecca Street.

Police say the suspects used a hammer to smash a front window, entered the home, and stole keys to a Mercedes SUV parked in the driveway. The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen SUV. The residents say did not interact with the suspect and that they had no physical injuries.

The stolen Mercedes SUV was later seen travelling at high speed alongside an Audi, which police believe was stolen from Peel Region. Both vehicles were observed running red lights.

The Audi was eventually found abandoned near Dorval Drive and Kerr Street.

Halton Police are treating the two incidents as related and are appealing to the public for information. Investigators are asking anyone with details to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
