Personal support worker facing assault charges involving Oakville young person

Halton police have made an arrest and laid charges against a personal support worker. Investigators believe there could be more victims.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) have made an arrest and laid charges against a personal support worker.

The investigation began earlier this month after police were contacted by members of the victim’s family. The victim in this investigation is a youth and the assault’s took place over the past few weeks at the victim’s home while they were in the care of the accused.  

Last week, on Friday April 19, 2024, Parmjit Kaur Uppal, 45, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Assault (two counts);
  • Assault causing bodily harm.

Uppal was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The accused, a personal support worker, was an employee of Paramed Home Health Care.

Police believe there may be additional victims. Investigators are asking anyone with information, or anyone who has been victimized by the accused to contact the HRPS Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.
