Suspected arson causes $2M damage to homes; second fire in less than two years at Halton complex

No injuries have been reported

Officials suspect arson to be the cause of a fire Friday morning at a multi-residential building, still under construction. It's the second suspected arson at the Branthaven townhouse complex that backs onto Appleby Line, south of Dundas Street.

Burlington Fire dispatched nine emergency vehicles and 27 personnel to Turnberry Road just before 6 a.m. today.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were visible.

Officials believe the fire originated on the main floor.

No injuries have been reported but damage is estimated at $2 million.

The fire marshal’s office has been called in to officially determine the cause.

The six-unit townhouse complex appeared nearly completed, but it looks like the homes have not yet been occupied. Fire damage was not visible from the street.
