Two teens arrested, drug charges laid in Oakville traffic stop

Halton Police has arrested two Mississauga women and laid multiple charges, including drug trafficking offences, after a high-speed traffic stop in Oakville early Saturday morning.

The incident began around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, 2024, when police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Kobzar Drive and Travertine Drive. Police say the driver accelerated, fleeing the scene at high speed.

Officers used a tire deflation device, which stopped the vehicle Trafalgar Road on the eastbound 407. Two female occupants were then taken into custody without further incident, police say.

Following the investigation, police say that Maryam Saleem, 18, has been charged with several offences, including:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Xanax)
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failing to Comply with Release Order
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Police also say Alina Aleem, 19, faces charges of:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Xanax)
