Viral video of man being dragged on Oakville highway deemed 'non-criminal'

A viral video circulating on social media shows a man being dragged by a vehicle on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Oakville. Police have determined the incident to be 'non-criminal.'

A viral video is circulating today, Aug. 9, 2024, on social media sites (including Instagram and Twitter) of a man being dragged by a vehicle on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Oakville. 

Police say the incident took place on Wednesday, Aug. 7, with officers responding just before midnight.

Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has deemed the incident to be "non-criminal in nature."

The video depicts a man being dragged on the driver's side door of a moving vehicle on the highway. The man is eventually dumped as the car pulls over near the exit at Trafalgar Road

According to HRPS Media Relations Officer Ryan Anderson, the incident "was deemed to be non-criminal in nature as a person in crisis was attempting to enter a moving vehicle on the QEW."
