LETTER: Ford is attempting to buy this election with $200 cheques

The best way to tell Ford that your vote is not for sale, suggests one reader, is to donate the cheque to another candidate

Oakville News received the following letter with a suggestion on how best to use the government rebate cheques.

The Premier of Ontario is attempting to buy his re-election with your money. It is not a coincidence that the $200 cheques are arriving in your mailbox during the election campaign. This is your money, not his.

Doug Ford is probably the most corrupt premier in Ontario's history. He called this unnecessary election 16 months early, at a cost of almost $200 million, to try to get elected before the RCMP investigations into his corrupt activities are completed and released.

Ford and his government have spent millions and millions of taxpayer's dollars on television and radio advertising attempting to convince you to re-elect him for another four years.

During his seven years as premier, Ford has done nothing to help working people or retirees. His policies are destroying health care. Millions of people do not have a primary care physician. He pretends to care about working people and retirees, but only cares about himself and his rich buddies. Don't let his political ads fool you.

The best way to tell Ford that you vote is not for sale is to donate the cheque to the candidate that has the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate in your riding.

Remember, a $200-donation to a provincial political party only costs you $50 after you receive a $150 rebate on next year's tax return. Or, a $100 donation only costs you $25. A great investment in your future. The Ford government must be stopped before it destroys health care in Ontario.
