Oakville News received the following letter about the town's proposed storm water fee.

This new Stormwater Fee is a direct result of Oakville Council’s irresponsible over development and the flooding that will result from normal storms, let alone bigger storms. It is completely misrepresented by all government to hide the infill conflict and government developer handouts.

The new flooding that will result will come from 90% poor infill planning and maybe 10% from global warming effects.

Storm water settling ponds, a weak solution, are undersized and too few. And the overflow runoff relies on a few creeks like Joshua's Creek which have completely lost their watershed natural control mechanisms. It is Joshua’s Creek that will carry hidden toxic industrial dumps to Lake Ontario.

So now we react with fabricated logic to free council/government of its gross by-law changes appeasing development with 25-foot lots, triplexes, no trees or green space and 90% land coverage with asphalt, roofs, sidewalks, etc.

And we get unsightly communities using “stick-built” housing barely within minimal construction standards. No one talks about the increased fire hazards coming from housing density.
