The Halton Regional Police Service unveiled Mobile Command Unit 1 at the Police Services Board Meeting on April 26th, 2018.
This larger, and now available for use, command unit joins the already operational Mobile Command Unit 2. It represents a major technology leap in its capacity to respond to a wide range of situations.
The new Mobile Command unit features:
- space for up to eight people to work
- multiple televisions for internal and external communications
- a private interview area with separate entrance
This larger Mobile Command Unit 1 will be available for all types of incidents and special events that normally require a large, on scene, command post. The smaller Mobile Command Unit 2 will be primarily used by our Search Incident Response Team (SIRT) and Crisis Negotiators. It will also serve as a backup for the new Mobile Command Unit when the larger vehicle is unavailable.
Both vehicles are driven by a small pool of trained operators from across the organization, both sworn and civilian. These individuals are available on an “on-call” basis to deliver the vehicle and assist with the operation of the technology inside.
Both vehicles will be on display during Police Day, Saturday May 12, 2018. For additional information about either of the new Mobile Command units, please contact Inspector Derek Davis at 905-825-4747 Ext. 2401.
