With warmer weather on the horizon, applications are now open for businesses in Oakville to secure their patio permits.
This year businesses can apply for permits online and can expect a few changes with rules and regulations.
Patio fees have been updates in 2025, and are based on different patio types. On-street patios for instance cost $480, plus $580 for every parking space (with HST included).
Outdoor music is also permitted on patios in Bronte Village, Downtown Oakville and Kerr Village business improvement areas until 10 p.m. daily. Music can be played at a moderate level and cannot exceed 50 dBA.
A business license is also mandatory in order to apply for a patio permit.
The town of Oakville says businesses should contact [email protected] if they do not have a business license.
Businesses that plan to serve liquor on their patio must now also apply for a separate temporary liquor license extension, which also has a separate fee from the patio application.
The town also encourages businesses to apply no later than April 1 this year if they want to install a patio by May 1.
