The Town of Oakville recently announced a new commissioner of corporate services.
Starting April 7, Sheryl Ayres will be taking on the leadership role and will oversee the town's following departments: communications and customer experience, financial services, human resources, information technology solutions, legal and town clerk services.
Sheryl Ayres has spent nearly 30 years in the municipal finance and strategic planning field. Her most recent role involved working as the chief financial officer with the City of Cambridge. She is also a certified professional accountant and has a master's degree in public administration.
Ayres will be taking on the role after Nancy Scully, who retired in December 2024.
“I am thrilled to welcome Sheryl to Oakville and the Executive Leadership Team," said Jane Clohency, the town's chief administrative officer, in a written statement.
"Her extensive experience developing and implementing long-term financial and operational plans to support the strategic goals within municipal government, along with her collaborative leadership style, make her the ideal leader for this commission," she said. "I am confident Sheryl brings the right combination of skills and vision to the town as we build our future together."
